Organisation

Based across two floors of the MacRobert Building at the University of Aberdeen, dot.rural brings together a team of 80+ researchers from across the disciplines of computer science, communications engineering, human geography, sociology, business, transport studies, health sciences and environmental science. This includes a large cohort of PhD students (22) and a sizeable number of associate investigators - academic colleagues from Aberdeen and elsewhere.

Research activities are organised around four broad rural challenges, as follows:

Cross-cutting activities include impact assessment, public engagement and work to investigate digital engagement and resilience in rural communities.

Hub activities are overseen by the Director - Prof Peter Edwards, the Co-Director - Prof John Nelson and the Hub Manager.
