Technology Mediated Journey Sharing

16th July 2010

As part of Horizon research into the connected journey made possible by ubiquitous computing, we consider how the benefits of journey sharing might be reaped by reducing barriers to sharing through mediation by technology.

The project aims to produce a number of different demonstrator applications to encourage journey sharing; students have the opportunity to take part in a trial of one of these, using their mobile phone to coordinate their journeys to the Summer School with one another.

The Summer School workshop will allow Horizon researchers to explain the role of this and other trials in the Car share project, provide a forum for students who participated in the trial to reflect on their experience and feed bck into the project, and encourage a more general discussion about the implications of emerging technologies for travel behaviour.

For further details, or to register your intent to participate, please contact either Ben Bedwell - bzb@cs.nott.ac.uk - or Ainojie Irune - aai@cs.nott.ac.uk - Please note that there are limited places at the workshop. Participation will be greatly appreciated and will contribute to ongoing Horizon research.
